Do I own the solar panels?
LumaGrid owns, installs, and maintains the system on your roof. You pay a flat monthly fee for the electricity and service. This is how we keep your upfront cost at $0 — and how we handle all the maintenance and warranty work.
What if the grid goes down?
Your Tesla Powerwall automatically keeps your home powered. The VPP program reserves a backup buffer so you always have stored energy for outages. For Essential plans (2 Powerwalls) that's ~27 kWh, and Premium (3 Powerwalls) that's ~40 kWh — more than enough for most overnight outages.
Is the VPP enrollment required?
No. The VPP is optional. Enrolled plans get 30% off the standard monthly rate. You can enroll, unenroll, and re-enroll as you wish.
What does the installation involve?
Our team handles everything: site survey, permitting, panel installation on your roof, Powerwall installation (typically on an exterior wall or in the garage), electrical interconnect, and inspection with your utility. Most installations finish in 1–2 days on-site, with 4–6 weeks for permits and inspections before power-on.
What happens if I sell my home?
The LumaGrid plan can be transferred to the new homeowner (most buyers love inheriting a system that lowers their bill), or we can remove the system. We handle the paperwork either way.
